Please Join Venture Outdoors at any of the following events:
Saturday, September 4: Wine and Cheese Tasting, Brady’s Run Park, includes a 4-mile hike followed by a tasting of gourmet cheeses and bread with wines featuring the grapes of Argentina.
Sunday, September 12: Calisthenics Hike with Dr. Christopher Olsheski of Butler Family Chiropractic, Moraine State Park, includes a hike with views of Lake Arthur, white pine stands and lake-edge wetlands. Dr. Olsheski will lead the group with stretching exercises at the beginning and end of the hike.
Saturday, September 18: Doggie Day Trek with Dr. Doug Knueven of Beaver Animal Clinic, Brady’s Run Park, includes a hike paced just right to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of nature with your best four-legged friends. Dr. Knueven, a vet known as one of the pioneers of holistic pet care and the author of two books on alternative veterinary medicine, will discuss natural nutrition following the hike.
Saturday, September 25: Destination Beginner Kayak Paddle, Raccoon Creek State Park, includes beginner instruction and practice followed by exploring the lake. Instruction, kayaks and equipment are provided.
Saturday, October 2: Rock Climbing, McConnell’s Mill State Park, includes instruction about equipment, safety, tying knots, how to rappel, belay and some climbing techniques. After the introduction, participants will practice rappelling and then do a few different climbs at the Rim Road Climbing Area across the creek from the Old Mill at McConnell’s Mill. Instruction and equipment are provided.
Sunday, October 3: Lite Hike & Extreme Croquet, The Succop Conservancy, includes an easy hike on the grounds followed by croquet played through barns, around trees, along ponds and down windy trails surrounded by the natural woodlands and wetlands of the Succop Conservancy. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided by the Conservancy.
Saturday, October 9: Lite Hike & Backyard Composting, Brady’s Run Park, includes an easy hike in the park followed by a composting workshop provided by Penn State Cooperative Extension of Beaver County.
Saturday, October 16: Apple & Pumpkin Picking Hike, Woodward’s Orchard and Brady’s Run Park, includes an easy hike in the park and a trip to Woodward’s Orchard for apple and pumpkin picking. Includes desserts provided by VO.
Saturday, October 23: Local Legends and Landmarks Hike, Snyder Cemetery near Moraine State Park, includes a hike to the legendary Snyder family cemetery lead by a descendant of the family, an expert storyteller who will share the chilling true story of the Wigton Massacre and local legends of hauntings at Bride’s Bridge, Old Stone House, Apple Inn and Miller Auditorium. Following the hike, participants will drive to the Harmony Inn for light refreshments.

Once registered, participants will receive an email that includes information specific to the activity, including driving directions, meeting place and suggestions for what to wear and what to bring. Registration is open to members and non-members of Venture Outdoors.
