Two of the Pittsburgh area’s best Chambers of Commerce made a strategic decision in July 2009 to merge and become THE CHAMBER of Commerce, Inc. serving the North Pittsburgh, Northern Allegheny, and Cranberry Corridors. With vibrant histories of business growth and community development around the booming Northern Allegheny and Southern Butler County transportation and business corridor of Route 19, Route 8, I-79 ,and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, THE CHAMBER is poised to lead the region in its next phase of business and community development.
The merger was a monumental task between the two chambers led by very talented core member volunteers. Consultants were hired and countless hours of research, planning and decision making was required to finalize the merger details.
The expansion and the melding of the business corridors in this region in addition to duplication of services were the key reasons for the merger. Combining resources, talents and members had the potential of producing a much more vibrant, empowered organization. Memberships were surveyed, town hall meetings were held, discussions took place with community leaders and legislators. The decision was unanimous.
THE CHAMBER of Commerce, Inc. is now one of the largest Chambers of Commerce outside the city of Pittsburgh. We are proud to be servicing our members and the community in a more effective and productive way.
